Raptacon 3200 · 2026-27 season · 3 items
How Raptacon tracks work: get on GitHub, learn how kanban works, then learn our board - so you can always find something to work on and everyone can see what's happening.

Create a GitHub account with your first and last name as the username - firstnamelastname, e.g. janedoe (add a number if it's taken). It's easy for the team to find and looks good on a resume later. Then add it to your sign-up form (returning members: use the "Updated GitHub username" question). This is also the first step of the Kanban tree.

Learn Kanban

Intro to kanban
What a kanban board is and why we use one: cards are small pieces of work, columns show where each one is (To Do -> In Progress -> Done), you pull the next card when you're free instead of waiting to be assigned, and you limit how much is in progress at once so things actually finish.

Use Our Board

Using the Raptacon board
Show a lead you can work our board end to end.
Walk through a real card with a subteam lead watching.
  1. Find the team board and filter it to your subteam.
  2. Pick a card from To Do and assign it to yourself.
  3. Move it to In Progress and add a comment with what you're doing.
  4. Link your work (a PR, a photo, a doc) to the card.
  5. Move it to Done - or back to To Do with a note if you're stuck.
