Drills & Drivers
Cordless drill and impact driver: when to use which, picking and seating bits, clutch/torque and speed settings, pilot holes, clamping the work (never hold it in your hand), battery swap and charging, PPE. Demonstrate drilling a clean hole and driving a screw to depth without stripping it.
Done in front of a manufacturing co-lead, start to finish, with no help - putting everything back is part of the test.
- Get the drill from its spot in the robotics room.
- Get a charged battery from its spot and seat it.
- Pick the correct drill bit for the hole.
- Drill the hole straight, to the marked depth.
- Switch to the driver with the correct Phillips bit.
- Drive the screw in flush without stripping the head.
- Put the drill, battery and bits back where they belong.
